You knew this was coming at some point, right? As someone who develops intimate apparel for a living, I definitely have some stand out favorites (and strong brand loyalty!) in this category!

As I’ve gotten older, this is one area of my wardrobe that I like to update regularly — a well fitting bra and a nice pair of undies you feel good in makes a world of difference when you’re getting ready! They really are the foundation of your wardrobe, and if the foundation is off, nothing is going to feel or look as good as it should.

If you haven’t bought a new bra in a while, I urge you to go get measured (everyone fluctuates and changes over time!), and invest in a few new pieces that make you feel good.

Even with all the resources I have at work, at times I have found myself wearing the wrong bra size. And while not everyone has the same access to fit experts that I have at Spanx HQ, I’ve found a great resource in the Nordstrom Lingerie department.

So as the weather heats up, what better time to share my go-to favorite undergarments to keep you feeling cool, comfortable, put together, and most importantly — confident, for the summer!  

Favorite Undies:

Spanx Ahh-lellujah ‘Fit to You’ Panties

Whether you’re a thong, bikini, or brief wearer, this one size fits most collection has you covered (literally!). Consider me biased because I was a part of the years-long development process for these styles, but they are the most comfortable panties you’ll ever wear. The fabric is lightweight and incredibly soft and stretchy, which accommodates most sizes (XS-XL, and 1X-3X).

It features the Spanx signature ‘Top Notch Crotch’ with shirring built into the gusset for added comfort and ease, but without riding up or getting too close to you. The waist and leg openings are finished with a bonded edge that stretches and lightly holds you, so it’s comfortable but doesn’t dig or squeeze.

They’re my all time favorite non-shaping panties, and I promise you won’t be disappointed in them if you give them a try!  

Favorite Bra:

Natori Bliss Perfection Underwire Contour Bra

This is the perfect t-shirt bra (sizes 30A-38G)— it’s very lightly padded for modesty (so no nipple exposure), and the materials used for this bra are all the softest, nicest quality, and wear so well over time.

What really seals the deal for me with this bra is the back — it has a stretchy hook and eye closure, so it handles fluctuation in weight really nicely and will comfortably expand with you throughout the month.

You don’t feel the underwire, but you’re glad it’s there, and the neckline and armhole coverage is just the right amount — not too little and not too much! It’s a little on the pricier side but in my opinion, worth every penny.

I wish I had it in every color!  

Favorite Strapless Bra:

Natori Feathers Underwire Plunge Strapless Bra

  Strapless bras can be so tricky — they either don’t support you well, don’t stay up, or the cups don’t have enough coverage and you see the top edge of the neckline through your clothing, practically shouting to the world to check out your poorly fitting bra!

This bra (sizes 32B-36DDD) has eliminated all of those issues, and has become a fast favorite of mine under all my cami’s and dresses.

Added bonus: it also comes with removable straps that can be converted to be worn in a variety of ways.  

Favorite Anti-Chafing Short:

Spanx Ahh-lellujah ‘Fit to You’ Short

  This is made with the same fit concept as the Ahh-lellujah panties — one size fits most (XS-XL, 1X-3X), and it’s extremely lightweight and stretchy fabric makes it the perfect go-to style to wear under skirts or dresses during those hot summer months, especially if inner thigh chafing is a concern.

I love to wear this style when it is the hottest out — the Georgia summer heat can be brutal, and this layer makes me feel a little more put together and comfortable, and less like a sweaty mess.

Available in 4 shades of nude, the sheer fabric looks great with a variety of skin tones.

Thinstincts 2.0 Midthigh and Girlshort

  The Thinstincts 2.0 franchise is my favorite Spanx collection, and with good reason. It took everything you loved about the original Thinstincts and…made it even better.

It has a no dig, soft waistband. The fabric is slinky and cool to the touch, as well as being incredibly lightweight. The lower belly shaping features a technology that’s actually printed onto the fabric (so cool). You’ll see yourself shaped, but you won’t feel squeezed at all.

And the leg opening has a seamless transition to your leg, so there are no lines or digging in that show under clothing. All around, it’s kind of perfect!

I like to wear the Midthigh with longer, form fitting clothing, and the Girlshort with my shorter dresses.

Favorite Shapewear Bodysuit for Special Occasion:

Assets Flawless Finish Strapless Cupped Bodysuit

  If you’re looking for a one-stop shapewear piece that does it all and at a great price point, then you need to look at the Assets Flawless Finish Strapless Cupped Bodysuit for Target.

I could obviously keep talking about intimate apparel all day (like it’s my job?), and at some point I’ll do a more extensive deep dive on ALL my favorite Spanx Shapewear styles, but these are my current and all time favorite undergarments!
