The Cutest Budget Friendly Workout Clothes for Spring!

All my favorite athletic clothes that are motivating me to actually exercise!

Wanted: Athletic Clothes. Also, motivation!

It started with workout class. One of my girlfriends coaches at a local gym, and I kept telling her I’d been wanting to take one of her classes. I wanted to feel strong and get back into shape, and I enjoy the CrossFit style classes that she teaches.

Which lead to a new pair of shoes. When was the last time I attended a group fitness class? It had to be pre-pandemic, so at least two years ago. What a great excuse to buy a new pair of exercise shoes. I chose this pair by Nike, which are so cute — they have an iridescent strip down the side, the little Nike logo in lavender all over the laces (!), and they’re really comfortable. One could assume they’d be great for a workout. I wouldn’t know, since I have yet to attend her class. (But I’ve got it penciled in for this Thursday!)

So obviously, the shoes weren’t enough. They didn’t do their job, which was to motivate me enough to actually attend this workout class. Or any class. Or any exercise of any kind where people see me. (The Peloton doesn’t count, because nobody sees you — the Peloton sees me at my worst — mismatched socks and all, and I’m okay with that!)

All of which has lead me here, looking for cute springy exercise clothes that won’t break the bank. To my pleasant surprise, everything I found out in the market is adorable! The universe is conspiring to get me into an exercise class, and to be the best dressed there. I’m sharing all of my recent finds with you today, because they’re just so cute, and they all coordinate really well together, and everything is at a great price. You can easily mix and match a lot of these pieces, and as usual, I couldn’t resist throwing a few periwinkle items into the mix.

Scallops

Who can resist scallops? Like the color periwinkle, I will buy most things that are scalloped. It’s such a cute and unexpected detail, especially on athletic wear. It adds just a touch of femininity that says, “I can lift heavy things, but I will also look good doing it!” Reviewers say that the Aerie line runs a little on the smaller side, so I would size up when ordering.

Pastel Marble Print

Old Navy has knocked it out of the park with this pastel marble print, and I want every piece they make in it. I’ve featured the leggings and long line sports bra top in my picks, but it also comes in a bike short and exercise dress as well.

Periwinkle

As if you needed another reason to like the color Periwinkle, it happens to be the Pantone color of the year (Very Peri), and it’s such a flattering color I always scoop up any styles I see in it. The brushed cotton baseball cap is so versatile and pretty, and at only $11, how you could you not want to add this to your closet? The leggings are a bit darker hue, and I can definitely see myself wearing them for workouts, but also for the days where I just want to look like I’m going to workout.

Sharing the Love

I hope you love these styles as much as I do, and if you end up buying any, please tag me on Instagram or share of photo of yourself in the comments if you feel comfortable! I would love to see how you styled them.

I’m so excited that tennis skirts are now a thing. Been wanting one for a year now since starting tennis lessons! Trying that Old Navy workout dress too.
